Welcome to Summer Reading 2026!
At Slaughter Community Charter School, we encourage all students to continue reading during the summer break to maintain and strengthen literacy skills. Please review the summer reading expectations for your child’s upcoming grade level below.
Incoming 7th Grade Students
Students should read two books of their choosing during summer break. Both books should be fiction chapter books and may not be graphic novels. Students will complete activities related to their chosen books at the beginning of the school year. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor book selections to ensure content is appropriate.
7th Grade Summer Reading
Incoming 8th Grade Students
Students should read two books of their choosing during summer break. Both books should be fiction chapter books and may not be graphic novels. Students will be required to complete Book Taco activities related to their chosen books at the beginning of the school year. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor book selections to ensure content is appropriate.
