Officer Willie Brooks is our full-time School Resource Officer, a trained and sworn police officer for East Feliciana Parish that is stationed at Slaughter Community Charter School. He is also a certified active shooter instructor, human trafficking instructor, DARE officer, and school resource officer trainer. East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Slaughter Community Charter School Board have coordinated efforts to maintain the safety and security of all students, staff, and visitors. Officer Brooks has been issued a long rifle and completed training through the law enforcement standard Louisiana P.O.S.T. Rifle Course, which qualifies him to carry a long rifle. The training and additional weaponry will provide Officer Brooks with a tactical advantage should he have to address an active schooler on campus. Effective Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Officer Brooks will begin patrolling campus with a secured long rifle to increase campus security. Proper storage and security measures for the rifle have been implemented on campus.
